Stylish headlights that look good, work well and meet European standards
Our replacement headlights for the Mustang use H4 headlight bulbs in place of the US-spec type fitted to the originals. This not only makes for a better light output, but also means that getting a replacement for a blown bulb is easy. Because the H4 bulb is one of the most common types used in European cars, almost any auto accessory outlet will have the m on the shelf. They are also sold at most petrol stations, convenience stores and supermarkets.
Better visibility for increased safety
Another advantage of our headlights over the US versions is that they have a proper cutoff to the beam pattern. This throws light up the passenger side of the road, illuminating the kerb area and making it easier to see pedestrians, cyclists or obstacles.
Side light function included
The original equipment headlights don’t incorporate a sidelight (parking light). For the US market, the sidelight is usually amber in colour and is invariably incorporated in the front indicator unit, which is where you’ll find it on the Mustang. Until now, converting the Mustang headlight for European use has involved drilling a hole up from the bottom of the headlight and moving the existing capless bulbholder into the headlight from the indicator. It might work, but it’s not very elegant, and not particularly nice looking either.
On the ABCDesign headlights, the sidelight is already incorporated - but we’ve taken the opportunity to add a subtle styling enhancement at the same time. Instead of just a small bulb, we’ve used an LED ring around the headlight rim, in the manner of the “Angel Eye” style headlights popularized by certain BMW models. This ring not only fulfils the sidelight function, it also gives the car a more s porty, aggressive appearance when the lights are switched on.
Plug & Play installation
We’ve made wiring up the new headlights as easy as we can - they are supplied with a wiring harness that simply plugs into the one on the car in place of the existing headlights. All that is then needed is to remove the sidelight wiring from the indicators and connect it to the wiring on the new headlights.
While fitting the headlights to a Mustang is as easy as we can make it, we strongly recommend that it is undertaken by a competent professional. The headlight beams will need checking and possibly adjusting afterwards, and this is beyond the scope of the home mechanic or DIYer as it requires special test equipment.
